ATC Options

Featured Replies

I'm interested in obtaining a few opinions for ATC options. In the last few years, having used several including Proflight 2000, Radar Contact, FS9 ATC, and the previous online equivalent to the current VATSIM. Most of the time, I use RC v3.0 but still looking for something more. That something more would be profile descents, realistic vector patters, etc. I stopped using on-line ATC (can't even remember the older name) because there was simply not enough participation for ATC facilities. There seems to be much greater participation in Europe as compared with the USA. As of late, I've considered returning to the on-line VATSIM option, but it appears the lack of ATC facility participation problem remains. RC is ok but has limitations. With v4.0 far off, it looks like there is no short-term solution within 9-mos to 1-year. Believe it or not, Proflight 2000 was my favorite because of the variety of world accents. My real world airline-ATC position may be the biggest problem in that I'm looking for something that is not yet achieveable in the FS world; at least for now.I'd welcome any comments.

Sorry i cant add anything useful here, except to say that i am sure RC4 will be a good improvement concerning AI traffic sequencing and the like.,I am considering flying online with ATC, and there seems to be a large number of virtual airlines etc.. maybe a fewer larger ones would work well, although there may be technical obstacles to this, such as the power of the central server. On the other hand it seems that organized fly-ins (such as the one hosted by Avsim recently) work really well.Just a thoughtCheersDan

Yes, I also elected not to be part of the VATSIM network for the same reason and because of the hassle connecting. All my choice.I have the Westcoast ATC group. They only "fly/control" at most a couple times a week but that is plenty for me. The best part is, if you live in the USA, is that each session has a featured airport. You can depart where you like, they will provide pseudo ATC, but your flight must terminate at the airport the controllers have selected. So, it does get busy at the selected airport towards the end of the session which is no longer then 3 hours from start to finish. You need nothing besides FS9 and TeamSpeak and a membership id/password. Being somewhat of a rebel, 1960's young adult, I don't like the "stiff" control of some "organizations. So I do things, a times a little different. Now I "pretend" to be the owner of an old T37 I recently purchased and only have the skills of a student pilot. (My retired AF Major Tweet instructor will teach me if I buy him a glass of wine .. or two.) Thus, this past Friday night, I departed ABQ, the selected terminal point for everyone, ask for and was granted the CATO MOA hot. (ground to 18000) Went down to CATO, did loops and spins and ... until the BINGO fuel call. Called ABQ center and was vectored back into ABQ along with all of the other traffic.Look at the Westcoas6t site. The calendar is kinda of empty right now, but things are not planned days in advance.http://www.westcoastatc.com/I have a condensed audio, 32 minutes of my flight I recorded from TS and then edited. The download size is only 8meg and plays on the windows media player. Too big for an email, but I will send you the link if you are interested.Send me an eamil with "grape" in the title, you are not in my "okay people" so my spam smasher will delete your msg w/o grape in the title. I will return you a link to the 8 meg file.Keep in mind I don't hear too good any more and have a little rebel still left in me. See how live ATC handles it. ;-)We r [email protected] Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. Beat this if you can for solving novel/unique problem anywhere in the cosmos. ..Have K&E and know how to use it!
