October 2, 200421 yr Just wondering if anyone is using a multimedia projector similiar to Bug-Eye Technologies, only at a fraction of the price? What kind of results do you get? What kind of Video Card drives it?Thanks!Barry
October 2, 200421 yr I have a Sony CRT project with a 11 foot screen for my Home Theater. Its HDTV too.. But when I tried to hook up my laptop ...the image was so poor. But I have seen computer images on some DLP projectors at work..they are very bright and awesome. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 2, 200421 yr I tried on our NEC lcd projector (1024x768 native) which is used for the home cinema system. The first reaction was WOW...Huge image looks very good when flying a tomcat thru the grande canyon}( But for me it was just an experiment. Sitting on the sofa flying around somehow felt too far away, too big. Also the image was far more blurred than on my 19' Sony triniton. Small gauges where nearly impossible to read. So from my experience it's fun but nothing for serious flightsimming. Of course it's a different story if you have a physical cockpit and only project the outside view.regards,Claudio
October 2, 200421 yr Thanks for the info. With the projector, you can adjust the projection area to the size of a cockpit. This might help resolution as well.Take care!Barry
October 3, 200421 yr I use one from time to time, when I can borrow it from my work. I love it. It is a Sony projector with 1024x768 native resolution. I like using a projector much more than my monitor because it give a better perspective of scale and immersion. It is really hard for me to feel immersed by looking at a 21 inch monitor.
October 3, 200421 yr If you are using a cockpit with multiple monitors and have no need to have the cockpit or gauges on the main screen a plasma TV might be a good alternative (gauges is no good because of the burn-in danger). It is far superior to projectors in terms of brightness. Most of thme have a direct VGA input, some even digital.I had once carried over our plasma from the living room and was very satisfied with the result. Well, until I heard a loud scream from my wife like " Where is our TVeeeeee?". She was muttering something like: "..nuts and divorce." Needles to say it is back in the living room where it belongs.Alex
