October 3, 200421 yr Well I guess there is a reason people say if it aint broke don't fix it. I had a good setup and smooth performance on my computer running FS9. I was getting a consistant 20 FPS on my old Nvidia Ti4600 video card. In the endless quest for more FPS and more fluidity I upgraded to the Geforce FX5700 video card. I get more FPS but now every 3 seconds the screen stutters. I have tried several versions of drivers, (I am currently on 61.77) I have tried playing with the AA and AF settings but nothing seems to be working. I also tried playing with the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT in the fs9.cfg file but nothing has fixed this so far. Since nothing else has changed on my computer besides the video card, I am pretty sure that is the factor. Can anyone think of anything else to try to get rid of this annoying stutter every 3 seconds? Thanks for the help.Pentium 4 2.6GHz1024 MB RAMNvidia FX5700 256MB
October 3, 200421 yr I'd say check your add-ons you might have running, weather, internet, anti-virus... things like that. I can make studders come and go depending on what I select.
October 3, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi, Be sure you uninstall the old driver and have delete the fs9.cfg. Your bios agp aperture should at max 128MB, recommended 64mb.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
October 3, 200421 yr Thanks for the recomendations. I removed all the previous drivers before I installed new ones. Tried deleting the fs9.cfg but the stutters were still there. My AGP aperture is at 64MB now. I only have Active Sky, and US Roads as addons right now. I quit out of activesky and flew far out over the water but was still getting a stutter every few seconds. I am also running FSAutoStart to close all unnecesary programs before I start FS9. This is getting very frustrating. Any other suggestions?
October 3, 200421 yr Well the cause of my stutter was my onboard audio. I have a Sound Blaster live sound card which I use for my speaker audio and I use the motherboard audio with my headset to talk to controllers online on vatsim. Not long ago I plugged that into my onboard audio and enabled it. Now, the funny thing is I get stutters whether or not I am actually using the headset. If I disable the onboard audio, the stutters go away. So the next trick is to figure out why the onboard audio causes stutters (I have the latest drivers for it) and to remedy it if possible so I can chat with controllers online and enjoy smooth flying.
October 3, 200421 yr What chipset is your onboard audio? I think that most onboard chips rely heavily on CPU power...they don't have their own hardware accelleration. The Nvidia NForce motherboards that use the NVidia sound DO have their own hardware for producing audio. The reason you get stutters when using your onboard audio is most likely because it doesn't have the hardware and so is sharing the CPU, causing 'interruptions', for want of a better phrase!

Try 32, 64,128 or 256. 32 and 512 probably won't help.Allcott
October 3, 200421 yr I got rid of many problems after I realised my onboard sound was not disabled in the BIOS. I also have Soundblaster Live! and had been running both together for several months until I discovered it had been set up that way from new.
