FS2002 Original Aircraft - NOT!

Featured Replies

Three uploads by Karan Gorania appeared in the file library as FS2002 Original Aircraft. One pet peeve of mine is when people release work, listing it an original project, and don't give an ounce of credit to anyone but themselves. This is a case in point. One of the models, the A310, is H. Nehring's fantastic A310. I did a zipdive of the download, and the mdl time and date stamp of Karan's "original" work matches one of Mr. Nerhing's earliest releases. Here's the download id and file specs from where the original model was basically grabbed:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...02ac&DLID=243371256836 25-Nov-02 23:10 a310-308-hnac/model/a310-308-v1.mdl I didn't go through as much trouble with the other two models, although the 734 was listed as the aia mdl... Lord knows where the 732 came from. Also, I'm alerting the library managers of the downloads. My main issue here (in case K. Gorania is listening) is that this forum is the most widely read. Please don't package other people's work and upload it to the library as original projects. That's not a very classy way to gain your fifteen minutes of fame.I can think of very few things which disrespect people more. Those of us who create original work here look after each other. And I always view the archives to see if I am getting something truly new, having been burned by a couple of 20 meg downloads on my dial-up connection and having one of my own panels posted as someone else's work.Rant over, and on my way to emailing the library managers...-John

Dang John, I was about to give myself all the credit for my GV project hopeing no one would notice... :-hah

It could have been an accident too. I don't know tho...

Doubt it's an accident with three different uploads. More often than not, it's just ignorance or people thinking the process of zipping up a mix of others' work makes for an "original" work.... But I'm afraid in many instances, it's just plain vanity--someone who wants to see their "name in lights" in any way possible.-John

LOL Dillon--gave me a good chuckle on that one. :)

And kudos to the library staff for responding to this so quickly....-John
