ASE and 2012 installed at same time

I recently built a new machine and installed 2012 on top of ASE because on my old machine I purchased 2012 as an upgrade and installed it over ASE (2012 needed to see ASE installed to prove it was an upgrade.  Do i need to have both versions installed on the new machine? Might it cause problems because I'm having CTD issues and am trying to leave no stone unturned. Also, everytime the weather downloads theres also a license check going on. Is that normal? Maybe I never noticed it before..

After the update to 2012 you don't NEED to have both versions installed, but I have always maintained both (for shared cockpit purposes one should run the same weather engine as the other pilot) and I've not had any problems whatsoever.
