Starter switch won't stay in On position (pic)

Trying to start this Avia 57's old engines. I can only click on the starter buttons, not drag them. The switch flips to the On position for 3 sec then switches Off by itself. No matter how fast I reclick on the starter button the engine just doesn't turn long enough for it to start.

Is there a way to fix this somehow? Besides Ctrl-E of course.

The VC switches do move but they can not be clicked. Only the 2D panel allows mouse interaction.
