PMDG MD-11 Yoke Problem

Featured Replies

If anybody owns PMDG MD-11 and MD-11F for FS 2004, when in autopilot mode or manual flight, does your yoke move left and right/ forward and backwards with jerky motion. It doesn't have that fluent feel like PMDG 747 for example of Level 767 or any other payware plane.

Thanks

Are you using real weather? If you are, go to the FS9 weather option and disable turbulence on aircraft. It is known to cause problems with complex aircrafts when it's enabled and you use real weather. If I leave mine on enabled and have Active Sky Evolution running, I get very erratic throttle and yoke behavior on my PMDG MD-11 like the one you described. When I disable it, all is good.

Yes I am using Real time weather that updates every 15 minutes. But not having Turbulence is very unrealistic

I have the PMDG MD-11 on both FSX and FS9. I know I got that problem when turbulence was enabled in FSX and disabling it eliminated the crazy yoke and autothrottle movements. So naturally when I fly the MD-11 in FS9, I disable turbulence. I don't get the wild yoke and a/t in FS9 so I'm assuming it's the same. I'm going to try it in FS9 with turbulence enabled.

There is a section in the ASE instruction manual about complex aircrafts like PMDG having problems with turbulence enabled. I don't think there is a fix for it, unfortunately. I think it's a limitation of FS. My Sim Check A300 does S turns if I enable turbulence. It's an fsx plane, but I think this problem exist on both FS9 and FSX.

I agree with you that having no turbulence is unrealistic.

Thanks for the help man

My apologies, Nikitos.

Are you just talking about the yoke's movement not being smooth? Kinda like it has low fps? Or do you mean it constantly swing wildly while on autopilot? Behaves like it's having problems keeping nose pitch steady.

I just tested it with real weather and turbulence enabled in FS9 and it didn't have the problem I mentioned about in FSX. I had assumed this is what you were talking about. It seems FS9 doesn't have this issue with turbulence. And for the past year I've been flying the MD-11 in FS9 with turbulence disabled lol  . I'm going to enjoy it even more now that I know I can have turbulence. I've only tested it on one flight. I need to do further testing just to make sure.

I also checked the ASE manual again and when they talked about problems with complex aircrafts, they said FSX and didn't mention FS9.

The yoke in the MD-11 for both FSX and FS9 doesn't look smooth while moving. This is normal. But the erratic behavior with real weather/turbulence in FSX is not normal.

Sorry about that.

Thank you my friend for the info. Yes exactly, like the yoke has low fps but I don't have low fps on the plane if you know what I mean. Only Yoke behaviour is jerky
