October 29, 200421 yr Hi there. This is what I have learned so far here in the forum after a lot of reading. I just want some confirmation.-Windows XP accepts only one additional PCI Video card besides the AGP.-Setting the secondary PCI video card as the "master" card in BIOS solves the problem in Win XP detecting it.Now I'd like to know if the setups below are possible:Config #1:FS2004Win XP SP2GForce 64mb AGP(Monitor 1) 32mb or 64mb PCI Video card (Monitor 2)TV as Monitor 3 (from the output RCA cable from Gforce card)any additional 32 or 64mb PCI video cards if slots are available.(monitors 4, 5, etc)Config #2:FS2004Win Xp SP2128mb+ Gforce AGP DUAL Monitor support (Monitor 1)Monitor 2 (From the DUAL port from Gforce AGP)32 or 64mb PCI Video card (Monitor 3)more monitors with their respective PCI cards. Both configs running FS2004 in Windowed mode. I am aware that FS2004 has given some headaches regarding running multi-monitor in full screen but I do not care. Also the other monitors would be only for instrumentation and not for VC or outside views. thanxPilot_76
October 29, 200421 yr >>> Windows XP accepts only one additional PCI Video card besides the AGPBoards not having PCI Express have only one AGP slot. So, you don't have any possibility to insert another AGP adapter. That's no restriction of Windows. In general, I'd say that fitting an additional PCI graphics adapter into a relatively new machine is nonsense. PCI has a clock speed of 33/66 MHz respectively, and very limited bandwidth on the bus, way too slow for current graphics hardware.AGP 8x is already a bottleneck, so you can imagine how bad PCI is.Get the best AGP graphics adapter there is, that would be a much better alternative. These adapters can drive two monitors independently, some even have two DVI connectors. And, Windows has no problems with them.Or, you go with PCI Express, but I don't have no experience with.Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. October 29, 200421 yr I currently run two 21" monitors out of my AGP slot both with windowed 3d views. The main monitor being the normal front with 2d panel view. My left monitor I set up to do a Left-front VC view. Takes a second or two to line them up but after that the effect is increadible. Once you try it going back to single monitor flying is like having blinders on. For the first few hours of doing this I actually got sick to my stomach. It all comes at a price of course, I have to turn off anti-aliasing to keep the frame rates up. But to me it is well worth the price to have the panoramic view. Having a third little monitor for Reality-XP's stuff would be kinda cool though. I guess a PCI would do that..? Not that I really need any more radiation coming at me than I already have.__Josh
October 29, 200421 yr I normally run two monitors of my Ti4200 with no problems .As I prefer to fly online and with the 2D panel - I will normally have the panel on the main monitor and everything else (GPS,Servinfo, Squawkbox etc ) on the slave. In addition I have at times used a networked PC to give a third monitor and shifted things like servinfo on to that- tho I didn't really find any big advantages to doing so .Dave
October 29, 200421 yr Author Hi again,What I've meant is that I want to setup a 1 CPU and 3 or even 4 monitors. No big deal with the Full screen issue and the horsepower required to do that because the rest of the monitors will be only for instrumentation (GPS,Overhead panel,FMC, etc) so I think that 1 CPU can handle FS2004 and the additional monitors.Thing is I just need to know if it is possible to have a DUAL Video card (128 or 256mb) and another PCI card in the same motherboard. Now, this PCI card if it is a DUAL PCI card too that could become a 4 monitor support using 2 DUAL cards. That's what I need to know...Other setup would be my same old 64mb Gforce card (TV OUT only) plus 2 PCI cards? What about a "VGA Splitter" ? Totally ruled out?Pilot_76
