October 29, 200421 yr A: Is it possible to skip FS2004 asking for a CD #4 on startup?B: How do I skip the intro menu and go directly into a "default flight"? I don't see an option for this anywhere. Tehre is an option that let's you save the default flight and it even says that it will load this flight on startup, but it never does...Thanks,
October 29, 200421 yr For your 2nd question, check the FAQ:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=230&page= ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
October 29, 200421 yr A: Yes, but we're not allowed to speak about it :-)B: The flight should be loaded when you press fly now. But you should find the setting called "show startup screen", don't remember which menu, and unmark it.-
October 29, 200421 yr "A: Is it possible to skip FS2004 asking for a CD #4 on startup?"Yes, make sure that CD4 is in the drive before starting up. :-lol Sorry, couldn't resist.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif
October 29, 200421 yr Wow - thank you so much, everything I wanted to know and was always afraid to ask is right there!
October 29, 200421 yr >A: Is it possible to skip FS2004 asking for a CD #4 on>startup?>Yes. Look in the FS2004 A Century of Flight forum at Simflight. Unlike Avsim they don't have any fear of openly discussing the subject and giving the information you want.
October 29, 200421 yr If MS had intended the software to run without the cd in the drive it would have been developed that way. If thats what they stipulate then thats the way it is. We can not condone or endorse any alteration you care to make to the way this operation is carried out. Its not the case of fear, its keeping with the rules.http://www.avsim.com/pages/0100/avsim_sig.jpg
October 29, 200421 yr >If MS had intended the software to run without the cd in the>drive it would have been developed that way. Well I don't see much attempt by MS to stop websites, forums etc from publicising the alternative way of launching the software. My guess is that the alternative fs9.exe file is so widely used that there wouldn't be much point now - and they know it.>Its not the case of fear, its keeping with the rules.I was only thinking of Tom Allensworth's post giving his reason why Avsim would not tolerate discussion of the CD crack subject. If I recall correctly he said that it is Avsim that would have to face the lawyers not the forum users. Given how litigation is so rife nowadays I think fear would be quite understandable.I think it would make much more sense if the leading FS websites and forums were to collectively approach MS and persuade them that there is no point in them requiring a CD to be inserted into the PC in order to use their simulator. That would be a positive way forward. After all, they did this for FS2002
October 29, 200421 yr >Yes. Look in the FS2004 A Century of Flight forum at>Simflight. Unlike Avsim they don't have any fear of openly discussing >the subject and giving the information you want.I understand that Avsim has to act their way. Simflight is a european site. It's not so easy to scare people with lawyers in Europe, as you'd better have a good reason to successfully sue someone.-
October 30, 200421 yr Well, then it seems Simflight don't allow these kinds of discussions after all. I wouldn't know as I don't frequent their forums. -
October 31, 200421 yr Roland, you are quoting from FLIGHTSIM.COM, while Shanwick is referring to SIMFLIGHT.COM (don't mix up apples with pears!)Jozef http://pluizig.ath.cx/signature.jpg
