October 29, 200421 yr Just wandering what others think need to be allowed to be configurable in the next version of FS. In FS9 they add many items like ground lighting (probably thanks to Chris Willis) and what not and was just wondering what could still be configured. My thoughts are:Axis for Cowl flapsComm2 radio for assignmentsTransponder knob to have assignments engine alert and crew system knob to have assignmentsany others ideas?
October 29, 200421 yr 1) I'd like to see more mass configured into a/c. There just doesn't seem to be a huge difference between a C-172 and B-747 unless one dulls the sensitivity and ups the dead-zones to compensate, which brings up perhaps a related added feature that needs updating. 2) Joystick routines. I think through the years joystick performance has been overlooked. While force feedback has helped, sticks are still linear and do not adjust to the varying speeds and profiles of the a/c. There is a tremendous amount of play in a yoke at slower speeds and yet quite a bit of maneuverability without over controlling the a/c. Joysticks today do not replicate this even with software which allows the curving of axis
October 29, 200421 yr I guess come 10th February 2005 we might start to know a bit about the next edition of FS.:-) ;-)
October 29, 200421 yr A really nice one for me would be a selectable option to display the external model from "within" the cockpit and side views. There's many great models, notably Mike Stone's, that offer no views of the external surfaces (wings, engines, etc) even though they are visible to pilots during normal flight. The option could be set up in such a way that if the aircraft had a VC, it could be displayed, not displayed, or displayed in tandem with the external parts.Another option--I always preferred FS2002's panning abilities, since you could pan in any direction, from any view. In FS2004 you can only pan from the forward view. I'd love to see a return to FS2002's way of panning or a choice offered (in case some prefer FS2004's way)-John
