November 1, 200421 yr There is no need to manually edit the scenery.cfg, I never do, I have tons of addons, and I have no scenery problems whatsoever. Even if the file is difficult to read for a human it makes perfect sense for fs, so why not just leave it alone?-
November 1, 200421 yr Hello Mikkel,"I agree, but it's not wise to blindly change all the layer numbers to the same number as the area number...there might be reason why they are numbered as they are."That does not seem to be the case. I developed this little utility to clean up my own scenery.cfg file because, as a mesh developer, I am constantly editing the file; adding, moving, deleting, renumbering areas as part of my testing of mesh and their priorities. I have never had a problem. The utility has been downloaded over 2,400 times, with no problems reported by others either. The critical issue is to insure the Layers are ordered correctly before running the utility. I often use the FS Scenery utility to do this. Gaps in area numbers and layer numbers do not seem to cause any problems. Duplicate do, and I provide only minimal help with finding these problems. Most problems folks have seem to be due to the fact that there is no Scenery folder in the path specified by the Local=C:fst-mesh... entry for an area. Since the sim identifies precisely which areas have this problem, I have decided not to handle it in my utility. (But perhaps I should include information in the Readme file to help them address the problem manually.)Regards,Steve Greenwoodwww.fs-traveler.com
November 1, 200421 yr I don't disagree with anyone here...I'm only pointing out that unless you know what you are doing you could get yourself in trouble. A lot of people reading these threads are maybe not as confident at editing for example this scenery.cfg file and I just wanted to point out that they should be careful...that was all. :)
