October 30, 200421 yr After having some nasty bad experiences with FSG American Data (which replaced terrain.cfg and wiped out all exclude and flatten switches in scenery.cfg), I thought it would be nice to know what addons change something in terrain.cfg and add entries in scenery.cfg containing exclude and/or flatten switches.Didn't realize these files are so much important, now I know, and maybe we can build a data basis in case someone loses even part of the files.I for myself know of Flightsoft's Honolulu 2004 and the Sim-Wings' latest Islas Canarias (needed to re-install both just to get the few exclude= lines back).Since many FS enthusiasts are here at this forum, I'm pretty sure we can cover almost all addons available.Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. November 3, 200421 yr I just noticed the same thing. I don't know if it has anything to do with FSG American Data at all though (that was my first guess too), but when I use the scenery editor in FS to disable or enable a scenery area, it wipes out all of my exclude/flatten switches. Maybe a new "feature" of the FS9 Service Pack??J
November 3, 200421 yr On second thought, it does indeed look like FSG American Data has something to do with this. I'm not entirely sure what the relationship is, but there are 3 scenery config files that FS9 reads: scenery.cfg and newscenery.cfg in FS2004 and a scenery.cfg in your Application Data/Microsoft/FS9 folder - which I've never been entirely certain what purpose it serves.I cleared all those out and replaced with a known "good copy" of scenery.cfg and all seems to be good and right in the universe again.J
November 4, 200421 yr I can now confirm that AD Roads and Streams destroys flatten and exclude entries in the scenery.cfg file :( Overall, I am very disappointed with this product. It does not meet the FSGenesis bar of quality I have grown accustomed to.Thumbs down. Stick with USA Roads.J
November 4, 200421 yr Commercial Member HI J,Markus fixed that nearly a week ago. http://portal.fsgenesis.net/index.php?name...iewtopic&t=1574-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x ________________ Justin - Toposim http://www.toposim.net

Your right there was a bug with the flatten and exclude options of the scenery.cfg file, but this one is fixed now. I apologize to you, that you have this problem.ByeMarkus BrunnerAuthor of American Data
November 4, 200421 yr As I mentioned in a separate e-mail, this patch needs to be made available with the downloadable product at the time of purchase - not squirrelled away as an attachment to some post in a web forum. The new configurator does indeed address the flatten/exclude problem I described earlier. I do not feel I got value for my money here with this purchase, and would caution others to carefully evaluate the demo more closely than I did before purchasing (and read the support forums, especially the FAQ). The visual quality of the roads, I feel, are nowhere near as good as those provided in USA roads. I realize that is purely a subjective assessment, and others are free to disagree, but it is one man's opinion. The powerline data (as is called out in the FAQ provided in the aforementioned forum), are less complete than that provided by default in MSFS - the official recommendation being to disable this feature. So that feature is simply vapour. The streams, in the absence of river data create all kinds of strange anomalies, and should have been packaged as part of the upcoming river/coastline product. That leaves me with railroads - for which I have seen none to date, even though I have compared numerous VFR sectionals against the scenery w/ AD installed. I don't know what to make of this. None of this is personal, but as a consumer, I am dissatisfied with the quality of this offering and feel my $15 would have been better spent elsewhere.Your mileage may vary.J
November 5, 200421 yr Hi J,the so called patch was a Hotfix for fast reaction. A seperate patch will follow, the download version is on the newest version, since yesterday. The powerlines are there and represent all powerline the TIGER/line data include. The streams working like expected. There where the option to put them to the river/coastlines but I thought they are already a very good addon for eyecandy. If you don't see any railroads there must be a problem with the scenery, terrain or FS9 file. There are plenty of them, not in Hawai, but if you go to Anchorage you should see many.I accept that you dissatisfied, but there where many screenshots and a free demo for testing before purchase.
