Hello :)

After doing some website work, I am keen on buying myself a new/upgraded pc. Any thoughts on the specs below?

Intel Core i7 4770K - 3.50GHz Quad Core, Socket 1150, 8MB L3, DMI Bus, 22nm, x64, Intel HT, Intel VT, Intel HD Graphics 4600 @ 350MHz, 3 Year Warranty

GIGABYTE G1 Sniper B5: B85 Express Chipset: Socket LGA1150, 2.5GT/s DMI, Supports 4th Generation Core i5, Core i7 LGA 1150 Processors Only Corsair Special Edition Series 600T Silver Mid-Tower Chassis - 4x 5.25" & 6x 3.5"/2.5", Includes 2x 200mm fans with white LEDs, 1x 120mm fan, No PSU

GIGABYTE nVidia GeForce GTX760 OC - 2048MB GDDR5, 256-Bit Memory Bus, PCI Express 3.0

Corsair Gamer Series GS600 600W Power Supply - 80PLUS Bronze Certified

Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3-1600MHz Kit (2x 8GB), Black Vengeance Heatspreader

Obviously for FSX with addons running. I have some hard drives which I will upgrade later.

Kind regards,

Marc

Looks fine to me.

Just be advised that you may need to flash your BIOS and update to the latest version for the B85 chipset if you wish to overclock you 4770K (Unless they are now shipping the motherboard with updated BIOS, which is rare). Only recently Gigabyte and other manufacturers updated the BIOS to allow overclocking on B85/H87 chipsets. As usual, there is a small risk that a BIOS flash can result in a bricked mobo... If you don't want to risk this, you could always buy a mobo with a Z87 chipset.

You might also consider buying a larger PSU (~750W region). This will facilitate any extra things/overclock you may want to do in the future without you going 'Crap, why didn't I buy a more powerful PSU back then!'

Besides that, with a stable overclock in the mid 4's (GHz) you should have no issues running any present or future PMDG products. ^_^

Yep, she'll run FSX like a dream.

...and yeah good idea regarding the CPU cooler, always better to have it there incase you decide to jump the gun and overclock (and reap the benefits of doing so).

ADMIN BOT... Do not PM or send Email.

If it were my money... I would get a GOLD certified PSU instead of a BRONZE. I would also get higher rated memory modules, rather than 1600.

And since it was my money, that's what I did a couple of months ago.

Edit: Any memory considered should be checked as being compatible with the chosen motherboard. Each vendor will have their listing of memory that's been tested to work with their mobo. You might be OK, even if it's not on the list. But the system I built 3+ years ago ran into a memory compatibility issue that still plagues me to this day.
