November 3, 200421 yr Just curious if there is any method to rotate the Ansari jetways to be aligned with the slewed aircraft longitudinal axis, other than having to amend the xml file heading?FSE does this rather nicely by hitting the NumPad keys 1 & 3. I would far prefer to use the Ansari jetways, but correct positioning is somewhat a pain. ThanksChris
November 3, 200421 yr No! You have to input the correct heading and it will be 90deg from what you think. This is caused by how it is designed in GMAX.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
November 3, 200421 yr Author OK Bill, curiosity still abounds. Why are aircraft placed on the true heading and the jetways are not?Chris
November 4, 200421 yr Hi Chris,Rwy12 libraries come from different designers. That's the whole idea behind the program - get contributions from different people for the benefit of the whole community. For example, my gmax objects head north and their reference point is center of object (except tree lines where reference point is SW corner), others head in a different direction according to the developer's preferences. You CAN rotate the object while being in slew mode, just rotate your little aircraft - rotation will be done automatically in the XML - check and see.Seev Kahn
November 4, 200421 yr Author Thanks Seev:My original concern was centered around my inability to correctly position a jetway relative to a terminal buildings fixed position. Are you saying that once the jetway is placed, it can be rotated or moved by coming back to the selected aircraft, going to slew mode, andthen using assigned keypad numbers to accomplish these changes?Chris
November 4, 200421 yr Yes ChrisOpen Rwy12, call your saved file and use MOD (modify) function. With mod you can change all parameters. Read the manual, I think it is there.
November 4, 200421 yr Seev,Now here is an idea, probably not a good one but an idea none the less. I have seen where cars, trucks, etc have been made "flyable" just like an aircraft. One use of this is for an airport scenery for ESSA that have the ground vehicles moving around the airport. My idea is could someone make one of the jetways into such so one could select the jetway, just like selecting a Cessna to fly, then be able to slew that around to get it into perfect position?Like I said it's just an idea. Thanks for the tool and for your time!Trevor

That is exactly the idea I was trying to convey, but don't think I did. Chris
