August 21, 201312 yr Hello, I have a strange problem where sometimes there is weather but a lot of the time its completly clear, although the winds are correct, i've attached an image below to show what its like. The weird thing is that there is sometimes weather and clouds but mostly not. Any ideas?
August 21, 201312 yr I have it too unfortunately. I vaguely remember it being about the data from certain weather stations being corrupted or not received at all. I'm not saying this is true so a definite answer would be appreciated. Regards, Saulius Baltramonaitis"If it ain't Boeing, it ain't going!"
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Please check your OpusWeather.txt, the Opus on screen weather reports, and Opus weather maps to see what the weather is supposed to be. Please accompany reports such as this with at least the OpusWeather.txt file (or email me it), or show the on screen Opus Local Weather Report etc. otherwise I have no idea what the reported weather is, for all I know it might be reported nothing but clear skies. Do the clouds and weather just disappear completely and suddenly? There would have to be an awful lot of METARs corrupted to give no weather and I don't think the LWE allows that, it would expand its horizons until the heuristic weather Interpolator had enough info to do its job. But not really likely in France where there are hundreds of Met stations. I will check at LFTQ and report back. Stephen
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member The answer is very simple ... there is NO weather at the moment to see from that location. All Met stations in the area are reporting NSC and CAVOK ... hence NO clouds. Its a very nice day in that part of France with clear blue skies ... Best always check the Opus Weather Maps. Stephen  Here is the Opus Lower Level Cloud Weather Map ... you can see there is no cloud cover for quite some distance around your location. Please consult the Opus Weather Maps, weather reports, and report files for details. Beta 3.24 just posted with the new Live Camera Control as well.
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Beta Version 3.24 ... The new Live Camera Control (LCC) feature can be used to adjust the views eye point with or without the Opus Live Camera enabled. All eye point movements are fully coordinated with the General or Live Camera DHM and TrackIR head movements. Check out our SimForums Announcements, Live Camera, and now screenshots topics for additional details. We will be adding a GamePad interface soon to supplement the LCC dialog and assigned button/keys methods of control. Stephen
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Just check the weather maps, weather reports, report files ... You can see for yourself what the weather is so there no need to worry. You have all the information at your finger tips so please use it. The LWA and weather maps are very easy to use and give an accurate indication of the weather gathered from all the Met stations. It is possible and quite common this time of the year (the height of summer season) to experience nice clear weather, especially in the south of France. So please when in doubt, just use the weather maps and check for yourself, or examine the weather reports. Just like above, no clouds means clear weather reported in the area, a quite common summer occurrence, hence the poularity of this holiday season in certain parts of the world. It is the height of summer. Stephen You get the exact weather reported in the METARs (the actuals), I don't make it up. Stephen
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Just checked all the other common weather sources and weather services, the weather is spot on, clear blue skies across large parts of France earlier today and most of this afternoon. As I said, it is not too uncommon in the height of summer, we've even had a few spells like that ourselves in the UK, a bit cloudy at the moment though. You should have more faith in the reported (actual) weather in the METARs, if they are good enough for RW pilots then I'm sure they're good enough for the sim. Cheryl and I even used the LWE, weather maps and flight plan reports to check the weather prior to our trip to Shrewsbury a few days back. If we are willing to do that prior to a RW flight I think you can safely say that its accurately reporting and mapping the weather, especially in places where there is a high concentration of Met stations. We do not map any weather that hasn't been reported. Stephen
