Database write/corruption

Recommended Posts

Hi, Installed Active Sky on my client pc running Windows 64 bit per network setup instructions. When I try to open Active Sky i get the following error" Your network database files could not be updated. Please make sure sharing is properly setup if using a network configuration." Tripple checked my setup and cannot find any error. All my other addons for FSX which run over a network work without any problem.

Are you running Win 7?  If you are then there might be a little more than you have done.  Sharing the required folders is not enough you should go farther to make sharing simpler by working within the security area.

Let's take the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder, right click and select "Properties" then select "Security" tab then press "Edit..." and then "Add...", the object name that you will type in will be "Everyone" (without quotations) then press OK.  Highlight the newly added "Everyone" and set "Allow" to everything but "Special permissions."  Apply and back out of the properties window.  Now you've set proper sharing and security, you should do that with all folders that require sharing.

Sorry, forgot to put the 7 in Windows. Changed folder to full control, problem solved. Thank you.
