August 25, 201312 yr Hello everyone, I'm planning to build my own computer to run FSX this winter. I know it's still a bit of a ways off, but I'm trying to plan ahead and make sure I have a solid understanding of what works best when building a computer specifically for FSX. I've read a lot of different suggestions regarding the hard drive set up. Some of the articles and threads I have read suggested having a SSD hard drive, because it helps with load times. Others have said to have one large HHD for FSX and its add-ons and then a main HDD (or SDD) for the OS and any other programs. So I was just curious - what hard drive setup do you currently use? Have you found that certain configurations work better over others? I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thanks for your help! By the way, here is the parts list I have so far. I'm sure it will change between now and January/February (when I'm hoping to start this project), but if anyone has time to look at it and has any suggestions, I would certainly appreciate it! http://pcpartpicker.com/user/GLaDOS/saved/ Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!
August 27, 201312 yr Author I was doing some research on this and I came across this article: http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/8380-whats-the-best-setup-with-an-ssd-and-disc-hd/ I kind of like the idea of putting the OS (Win 7 64-bit) on the SSD and FSX on a large (1 TB?) HDD. Has this worked well for anyone?
