Fly Peru!!!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,my around the World trip in an aspirated Cessna C310 led me through Peru recently. The most amazing flights I have ever done. The scenery is absolutely terrific. Montains, long slopes that make you think you will never gain AGL, beautiful cities high up in the Mountains. I post this as I think Peru is often overlooked as place worth to fly.Take an aspirated plane. That makes it more interetsing. The margin of error becomes pretty small in an aspirated Cessna at FL150.ActiveSky made some of the flights almsot surreal in terms of visuals.Get yor mesh here e.g.: http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htmAnd don't make the mistake I did, and buy the scenery at simmarket. It may be accurate in terms of IFR but they managed to amke it look worse than the default scenery. If you like I can post some routes for you.Alex

I second your notion. I dsicovered Peru while I was flying the Hopping Around the World Adventure Packs that can be downloaded on this site. Some of the most hair-raising approaches I have done so far. It's really no surprise to me after this experience that you often hear about crashes in this area. One mistake in climb or descend planning and you'll end up in a mountain at 20.000 feet.

I've been watching GlobeTrekker lately and they have been concentrating on South America so when I see something interesting I check it out. Putting stuff together lately for Brazil and Argentina. A nice change of pace.
