FSX vs FS9 AI aircraft textures

Featured Replies

I have been using FAIB and UTT models for AI for some time now, but always using FS9 textures. What is the hit on performance with FSX .dds textures?

Thanks

I don't believe there is much, if any, hit on performance.  It's also relative, for example, the number of AI aircraft with the bigger FSX textures are most likely only on a small number of the aircraft roaming about in the skies or the tarmac of your sim.   If you applied these high def textures to all your AI, I'd imagine there would be a performance penalty.  But not when so few AI use these upgraded textures.   Also, if you use the FSX textures chances are you have to apply them to the FAIB and UTT FSX native models, which alone, increase performance vs. their FS9 peers because they are FSX compliant.
