VC shadows

Featured Replies

Awaiting the release of the A2A C172R Trainer I am trying DX10 again. Main reason is the (so it seems) excellent VC shadows that plane will have. In my current default plane (RealAir Legacy) I didn't get any shadows in the VC and that was one of the reasons I didn't feel the need to stick with DX10. Another reason were the slower loading textures. However, with the C172 my speed will be considerably slower so that solves the slower loading texture problem.

Now I noticed that while testing DX10 with the default C172 I could hardly see the VC shadows. I remember giving it a try in the past and the shadows were VERY obvious (also because they were so jagged). However, with my current setup and settings I have to look REALLY HARD to see a slight hint of shadow moving over the VC... It's NOTHING like the shadows you can see in the A2A C172 example here:

Afaik there isn't a certain setting or option or tweak that influences the VC shadows... right? Anyone knows what could be the cause of me hardly seeing the shadows at all...? Maybe it has to do with some Inspector setting...?

Never mind...! I restarted FSX and now I do see the shadows as they should be... Very odd... Maybe something somehow went a bit wrong after loading and changing the various settings for DX10...

Don't forget that the intensity of the shadows depends on the wheather conditions. You only get very intense shadows on a sunny day, while the shadows are almost invisible when it's cloudy.
