FSX-Why controls won't work

Featured Replies

This is an on going problem. In the FSX > Controls when I go to assign the airleron axis I get a " Y Rotation " in the box. When I go to the elevator assignment , I get a " Y Rotation " in the box, same as the airleron. I can not delete either one. As a result, there's a conflict so when I go to fly the elevator and airleron don't work . I have no problem with the throttle and rudder. I've tried calibrating, but that doesn't work because of this problem.

you could try by deleting your cfg file and also in your Standard xml file, all references to your Controler. Which will be listed toward the bottom section after all the keyboard enteries.

The Standard xml is located in the Control folder...in Users/"your name"/ AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX   same place as your CFG.

Restart the sim and remap your buttons and axis etc....in theory it should be ok now. Hope that helps.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I uninstalled the controllers, thats it, rebooted, started up FSX and this is what I got; ERROR : Flight Simulator was unable to load some files. Reinstall FS to restore or repair Program Installation.

Inserted discs 1 and 2 for a repair ( not acceleration ). Rebooted, then started up FSX , ERROR : Your computer has run out of memory. Restart FS and select different graphics, scenry or traffic settings.

Looks like things are starting to snow ball now. Can't do FSX. Do I go into the files? Then what?  Not going to make a move until I get more ideas.

Sounds like you have more problems than just the controler you are using.

Disconnect it/them ....delete your CFG file, delete your Standard xml file. Then insert your FSX disc 1 and run the repair option, it will ask for disc 2 when it is ready. When it has finished do the same with the Acceleration disc  After it has finished defrag and then reconnect your controler, then start the sim.

I am assuming you have the Gold edition. If not you will have to do similar but with SP1, SP2 etc after running the main FSX discs. These are already included with Gold. DO NOT try and start FSX after the main discs repair function has run, before running the Acceleration repair option. It will crash. Unlike when doing a full reinstall from scratch, to register the cfg file prior to running acceleration.

You will need to add any tweeks you made for your cfg. Your addon scenery may or maynot need some attention after...depends how you had your system is set up.

If you aren't comfortable fiddling then I would suggest you do a full reinstall from scratch...I do mine at least once every 24 months. You would be amazed how much better it runs afterwards.
