November 13, 200421 yr I tried to select the ILS frequency I had in the NAV2 radio and hoped to see it work on the HSI. HOwever, the HSI only seems to work with NAV1. If that's the case, what is the purpose of the DME NAV1/NAV2 select button. It doesn't seem to activate NAV2 for the HSI. Is this a bug? Using FS2004 and Bombadier Learjet 45.
November 13, 200421 yr Moderator FS9 doesn't directly support navigation from the NAV2 radio. There's a way to implement it, but it does require some tricky gauge programming, which evidently MSFS development team decided not to do. Fr. November 14, 200421 yr Nav 1 is always displayed on the captains HSI and the copilots RMI, and nav 2 is the copilots HSI and the captains RMI.You can definately navigate just fine with nav 2 in FS2004, but not with the capt's HSI, it's just like most real planes, the autopilot only gets nav info from the capt's HSI or Nav 1.The nav 2 DME is needed on some approaches even when using nav 1 to fly the approach, as in the shots below of the ILS 27R at KORD.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/97363.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/97364.gif
