September 6, 201312 yr Hey guys, I know FSUIPC's autosave caused some lagging with NGX, turning it off helped. The thing with NGX, most flights were only a few hours, so less likelihood of a crash. For these long haul routes, having an autosave really helps. Nothing is more frustrating then having the sim crash or power outage 95% through a long haul flight. Currently I have set autosave to save every hour so the lagging isn't too bad. Is there a better alternative to this? September 6, 201312 yr You can use the save flight option, but it's not automatic. Do you have a lot of crashes? If so why not work on fixing that? George Morris
September 6, 201312 yr Author My system doesn't crash very often, but Autosave is a very nice insurance tool, especially for long hauls, in the event of a power failure, forced restart, crash, whatever. Could PMDG either develop an inhouse version of autosave or try to find a way that 777 could play nice with FSUIPC's autosave? September 6, 201312 yr I don't have a registered FSUIPC so I use FSXSave, which is a separate utility which does exactly the same thing. You can find it in the AVSIM library. It runs as a module with FSX. Works really well, but I don't know if it would suffer similar lag (I haven't had need to use it yet). The only problem with it is its housekeeping, which isn't perfect. It's supposed to retain the last ten saves and delete older saves automatically. Different addons save additional flight restore files in various places and FSXSave only cleans up files created by default. Your flight save folder will soon become home to large numbers of .SPB files and .FMC files, for example. The files generated depend entirely on what addons you have installed. The author of FSXSave was understandably reluctant to support removing these files. So I wrote a simple batch file to automatically purge these additional save files which I'd be happy to share as a template.

Cheers TJ I would also like to use FSUIPC autosave First...in case of crash you can go back and finish the flight. Second....I read that is can prevent OOMs. With the 737 NGX this would create an endless list of saved flight in the CDU (even if FSUIPC is setup to keep only the last 10 Autosaves) So I turned it off. Does the 777 do that as well? And what is this lagging you are talking about? Rob Robson
