looking for 2D cockpit and VC for Grummans

Featured Replies

Has anyone flown Joe Binka's Grumman Widgeon? This "flying boat" makes me smile everytime I fly it, especially the sounds. However, it has no decent panel, in either the 2D cockpit, or the VC. Does anyone know of a freeware panel for both the 2D and VC that I could download? I've done a search in the library but have come up with nothing, unless I'm entering something wrong within the parameters for the search engine. The same thing goes for Mike Stone's PBY Catalina. And as an aside, do these aircraft not have GPS capabilities? You'd think a search and rescue craft would.

You cannot add a VC to a plane, because VCs are part of the plane modell itself. Thus if Joe Binka's Grumman Widgeon does not come with a VC, you must live without it.No idea, if there are good 2D panels are around for this ac.Wolfgang

Joe Binka is currently working on the Vc version, the screen shots look fantastic. You'll have to wait untill its done.As far as a Catalina with a VC, I havent seen one since FS 2000 and dont know of any in the works. Would love to add one to my personal FS library though.Jerry Beckwith does have a G44 Widegeon with VC + back lit gauges. it is a bit basic though, but the FDE is reputedly very accurate. It can be found through the Sim Outhouse http://www.sim-outhouse.com/

>Has anyone SNIP, SNIP>>And as an aside, do these aircraft not have GPS capabilities?>You'd think a search and rescue craft would. If they don't have any GPS in them, why then, just open the panel.cfg file and ADD one. Find an aircraft which does have one and open the cfg file to see how it's done. There are differences in how it's done based on the model aircraft. You can also get non-default GPS units (I use a GNS which I got from Simflyer) to install. Live a little; pretend that as the owner of this plane, you've hit the (small) lottery. Then go out and upgrade the avionics to whatever you'd like to have. I've done this numerous times. I don't particularly like the default GPS unit and have been converting to the Simflyer units as I can. I've put new gauges in, swapping out others which I don't like. Even add an autopilot unit to planes which didn't have one. YMMV, of cuss! :D :D :D
