September 8, 201312 yr Hi Guys, I realise you can turn on the battery and start the APU but this is done without the ability to monitor the start sequence or run the fire suppression tests. Is it ever done like this in the real world ? Am i missing something ? Regards Simon Simon Grant
September 8, 201312 yr Yes, this is exactly what happens in the real world. Remember, this isn't the NGX or the MD11 (which also required a fire system test and operational monitoring). The 777 has a number of built in safeguards for the APU start. Ryan Gamurot
September 8, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the reply rgamurot. I kind off suspected it was going to be like that, I just needed to hear it from someone who new. I might see if i can set up a failure or a fire on the APU to coincide with a start and see what happens. Regards Simon Simon Grant
