November 19, 200421 yr I've read that in FS9 it is possible to save gauges in a corresponding aircraft folder. How does it work, guys? Any guidelines/recommendations here? My main Guage folder has grown too large and I'm afraid soon I'll start having overwrite options in the Gauge folder when installing new aircrafts which is not good.Thanks.
November 19, 200421 yr You can save gauges in the panel folder. I do that with new panels I've downloaded so that if I decid I'm not going to use it I can delete it and don't have a bunch of unused gauges cluttering up my fs9/gauges folder. I do it with the sounds for that panel too. billg
November 19, 200421 yr Author Thanks, billg. Do I need to change the path to new locations of the gauges anywhere in the configse, or you just dump them in the panel folder of an aircraft and that's it?
November 19, 200421 yr Dirk, just dump them in. Most panels come with a panel, gauge, and sound file. Just copy the panel file into the aircraft directory as you normally would then copy the gauge and sound files into that panel folder and you're all set. No configuration changes required. Makes things kind of neat. If you're going to use multiple instances of that panel you might want to separate them just so you don't have multiple instances of the gauges and sounds, but even then it's not a big deal unless you're using that panel on lots of different aircraft.

Thanks, panda.
November 19, 200421 yr Unlike FS2002, which only referenced the GAUGES folder, FS9 aircraft will look first in their own PANEL folder and then in the GAUGES folder. So the gauges can go in either.Personally, I always move them into GAUGES, though. Otherwise, you can quickly end up with dozens of duplicates of the more common gauges. Mind you, I rarely delete anything I have downloaded, and so I can understand why others might prefer to keep them separately for tidy housekeeping.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
November 19, 200421 yr Author Yes, Mark. But does it work the same with the sounds intended for the FS9 Sound folder?
