September 17, 201312 yr I just came back last night from a motorcycle trip to Martinsburg, West Virginia. I wanted to tour the national battlefields of Antietam, and Gettysburg. I did that this last weekend and had a blast. It was on the 'bucket-list' and now has been checked off.... I thought how does FSX(G) look around that area. Well...I dialed in KMRB and took off towards Gettysburg. I highly recommend that others who have FSX(G) do so as well. Have HYRBRID mode turned off! This morning, there was mist over the mountains (thank you OPUS!) and the Fall rendition is quite stunning. There are also different field textures that I had not seen displayed in Michigan. Almost three 3D in viewing. SHADE could also have something to do with that as well.....SHADE is making the mountains breathtaking today as the sun is rising over the mountains and the Potomac River. I have the sim on pause shortly after take off, to come and post, so don't know if FSX has dedicated BGL's for Gettysburg National Military Park, as well as Antietam. I'm about to shortly find out, as Gettysburg is about 54 miles away from Martinsburg. BTW, if you ever want to tour the Civil War Battlefields, Martinsburg is a great place to book a hotel and start....Harper's Ferry is only 14 miles away, and you are pretty concentric to view all. Again, had a blast....and now will enjoy flying to West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, etc....the main heart of the Civil War Maryland Campaign! Cheers! Post Edit: Just came back here to post that Orbx's FSXG renders West Virginia (around KMRB) as the best I have seen to date ANYWHERE!. It blows Michigan right out of the water....OMG! As real looking, as I just have been there within the last 72 hours....WOW! I know which states I will be seriously exploring today...and have never done to date! Back to West Virginia, and Pennsylvania! Post Edit 2: I nominate the States of West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and viewed with FSXG and UTX in the Fall as the ultimate VFR eye candy experience! I don't think it gets any better than what's upon my monitor at the moment. Welcome back FSX....welcome back.... Sesquashtoo, over and out.
