September 20, 201312 yr Just 2 small questions. 1: I did a polar flight ACA15 yesterday, tried to enter the north pole into my FMC fix page for reference. I tried N90E0; N9000.0E00000.0; N90, no help... So I used E89W001 instead... Does anyone know how to actually put the polar coordinate into the FMC? 2: I saw several blue dash rings in the ND of some 777 pictures. Is it called the energy management ring at descent phase? How do I turn it on in my 777? Thank you! Johnson Poon
September 20, 201312 yr 1. NPOLE 2. Those are energy management circles. The tool can be found via the off path descent page. When selected on the displays 2 rings around the position/aircraft appear. THe outter is a 'clean' ring the inner is a 'drag req'd' ring. If you are outside the first ring (idle power) you may find you are in a low energy situation and may need to use power. If you start getting inside the second ring - drag req'd. You may find yourslef getting hot/high etc. As long as you remain in between the two rings you are in a good position to fly an idle power approach. Safe & smooth flying, Clarke Ramsey
