Zero-zero visibility?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Finally made an account here:)

So I bought Opus a couple days ago and it's AMAZING! It runs well even on my aging laptop. I also added the HDEv2 freeware addon. I've been monkeying around with the import METAR feature and tried to get the visibility down as far as it will go. The lowest I was able to get it was 1/8SM (~200M). I'm assuming there's at least one more step down from there. (Source: Youtube video landing in LOWI)

Thanks!

Try importing the following METAR using the Import METAR From File option,

GLOB 000000Z 27008KT 0010 BKN017 21/12 Q1026

This sets the surface visibility to 10 metres. You can actually set the surface vis all the way down to just 1 metre using the '0001' code in the METAR, but be warned ! FSX may even reduce the vis INSIDE the cockpit, so best stick with a 10 metre limit.

You can use the import facility to practice approaches or circuits in the weather of your choosing. Use the GLOB ICAO code to inform the LWE that you want the weather to be Global. If you want to fly in an area of poor RW visibility, just load up the Opus weather and check the LW Assistant's Surface Visibility map and relocate to an are of poor visibility, you can even find areas of low overcast using the Lower Cloud Cover weather map.
