November 28, 200421 yr I do realize some of you are thinking I'm making a bit of a fuss about what may seem to be very little but, as one who openly admits to being a bit of an FS9 obsessive, things like this do tend to get in the way and threaten to spoil my enjoyment :( Sad, I know.On the positive side, when solutions are found I feel a great sense of satisfaction if, even in some small measure, I have helped with my modest contribution. I'm sure we all enjoy 'working' with this sim in all manner of ways which are entirely individualistic and will always remain, nonetheless, relevant to our needs.Back to the matter in hand:I did imply in my last post that there was some doubt as to the default setting for 'Intensity' under the heading (LensFlare.1) in the file 'suneffect.cfg'. Well, I have just checked the content of the default file on Installation Disk 1 and the value is in fact '.50'! What's more, the value for 'Size=' had been changed from '.28' to '.90'. This, I am now sure, is why others don't see the mottling to the same degree as I do? Anyway, these findings appear to confirm that some installation has changed these values on my setup. I don't think these values are dynamic in that they remained unchanged throughout my testing between dusk and midday. I note other settings have been changed as well and may be contributing to what I am observing.Default values in suneffect.cfghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/99151.jpgAfter changing the values affecting the texture 'sunglow.cfg' back to their defaults - not perfect, but much better and explains why I did not notice this until recently.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/99153.jpgCorrections in last post: "The sun obligingly masked itself behind cloud in the second" ....actually, I should have said 'first' rather than 'second', but I'm sure you all spotted the mistake. And Mike, I apologize, you were of course quite correct when you stated that the default value for 'Size=' is '.28'. The error was made at a time when I less familiar with content of the 'suneffect.cfg' file.MikeThose who may still be awake through all this :-lol, try the effect of installing Lens Flare set 1 from FS Sky World 2004 and let us know what you see ;) This investigation has now concluded and I am happy to have worked it out. Moreover, Chris, as alert and helpful as always, is already on the case and I look forward to installing his update.
