November 25, 200421 yr downwind patternI am flying into LE LAMENTIN TFFF runway 27 visual approach. My current heading is 273 and pattern altitude is 2000. MS ATC orders me to turn onto the downwind leg skipping the upwind and crosswind legs. My current position is straight over the runway. Should I fly the crosswind then proceed onto downwind leg? If making the downwind turn at point given I would cross the runway!
November 25, 200421 yr Are you over/above the runway at 2000ft hdg 273? If so you can fly to the end of the rwy and then turn xwind and back down wind (left or right based on pattern/ATC). I guess it depends on traffic and terrain. I have seen some funny patterns flown in real life as a private pilot :-)TFFF has some mountains in the area if memory serves me correct. Otherwise a hdg of 273 sounds like you are on final for a straight in to 27
November 25, 200421 yr Yeah. Spokane's Tower has given me some funny instructions. My favorite would have to be a touch and go for 21 with a tear drop for 03 to full stop with a last minute change to 07 because of the a 737 inbound for 03 that was gaining. That was definately and interesting flight. Hehe.----------------------------------------------------------------John S. I thought ATC wanted a straight in but when I started to descend I was told to get back at 2000.Thanks,
