November 25, 200421 yr Flying a 4 engine this evening I suddenly noticed very odd throttle control in the air. Back on the ground, and after a lot of research, I found that whenever I select full power and then reduce the throttle, reverse thrust is selected almost immediately [previously, I always used No 3 after touchdown for reverse]. I have uninstalled my joystick [X45]but even using the keyboard I have the same problem. I then deleted the FS9.cfg and ran FS9 so that a new .cfg was developed - all to no avail.V grateful for any help - I have been using MSFS for years and this is a new one!!!!!!
November 25, 200421 yr If you have a registered version of FSUIPC you can calibrate reverse thrusters easily. I know 'cause I just went through the process of getting FSUIPC back after a computer crash.Good luck.Adam
November 26, 200421 yr Check your throttle calibration in the Win Gaming Options to make sure the idle point is set properly at minimum travel if this is where you want it. Check this even with your throttle (joystick) disconnected. If you are using the default f1 key for idle, hit this and bringing up an image oif the throttle lever make sure it goes to idle. Then make sure your joystick control acts accordingly. You may also wish to check conflicting key assignments in FS9 settings. Leave your stick plugged in so the assignments don't keep changing. If you have registered FSUIPC and are using the joystick throttle assignment to multiple engines, the idle point is set there automatically above minimum travel so going below the now raised position idle point causes reverse thrust.By looking at the throttle image as you run the stick control up and down, after calibration it does not follow, then you may be having alignment slippage within the stick throttle control electronics. If this loosens, as you go toward max the internal shaft may stick too short of near full rotation but in the down direction go further than normal bringing the control value below idle calibration. Go up again and it repeats. This is probably unlikely.
November 26, 200421 yr RonzieI [thought] that I had not used the FSUIPC throttle setting in this FS9 - but that was the answer!! I must have done it somehow so very many thanks for pointing me in the right direction - all sorted now.
