Error message: Cannot find file Flightpanner closes and FS9 CTD

Featured Replies

Hi,see my error I get whenever I try to use the FS9 flightplaner. It says in German that it cannot find file and closes on me. The error message appears as a separate button. And when I click "close" FS9 just does a CTD with me. I cannot load any flightplan or make up one. What can cause this? What can I do to get it working again? Please ask me if you need more detailed info,I dont know right now to post here.

Did you move the My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files folder for the user account you use for FS2004? If so, you need to place it back in the correct location:drive:Documents and SettingsUser_NameMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Fileswhere drive is the diskdrive containing Windows and User_Name is the user presently logged on the computer.W. Well, all is ok here. It is in German, so it is a little different. But I can open a flight situation, so the folder must be ok. There is the flightsituation saved and can be opend without problems. But I cannot open any pln within this folder in the FS9 flightplaner to have it in my GPS engine.

The Error Message reads: "The file cannot be read" (is a translation that FS9 cannot read whatever it tries when I open the flightplanner.Any hint/idea???

I would check the following modules:flight.dllgps.dllgps_export.dllI would also check the following gauge:fs9gps.cabto ensure they haven't been corrupted. If you updated to FS9.1, you might try uninstalling, deleting the BACKUP folder. Retrieve all the default module files from your fs2004 CDs, and place in the module folder. Reinstall the FS9.1 update, and see if the problem is corrected.W. Sieffert

flight.dll is from 09/20/04gps.dll from 09/01/04gps_export.dll from 09/01/04FS9gps.cab from 06/13/03Older ones are in the BACKUP folder. I just try to rename them and more them to the modules folder... Lets see what happens...Ah, nothing helped! The problem is still there... "Cannot read file"What has to be in the ...myfilesflightsimulator-files folder as default? Maybe I miss some files there???

You have the folder written - ...myfilesflightsimulator-filesIt has to be:Documents and SettingsUser_NameMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesThe User_Name is the account name you selected. This folder contains any and all flights (FLT), flightplans (PLN), and weather (WX) files you save within FS2004.W. There was a time when it was all in German. Now it is somehow wrong, but I can load a flight - not a flightplan... I need someone who has the FS9 German Version and can tell me how his system and FS9 Folders are looking like._______________________Regards, Torben HadlerBeta-Tester ACLoader 3 + 4http://www.fsflightdeck.com/acloader.htmlT-A-H MultiMedia Productions Torben Hadler - http://www.t-a-h.com || [email protected]: CPU: AMD TB XP 3200 Barton | MoBo: Epox 8RDA+ NVidia2 400MHz | RAM: 1024MB 2700 DDR | MSI NVIDIA GF5 FX 5700 Ultra | Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS | CH-YOKE + Peddals; Primary: 17" Dell Monitor * Secondary: Philips 150S4 TFT 15" || Software: Display Resolution used: 1024x768 in WinXP and FS2kX | WinXP Pro SP1b (German Version); DX9c | FS2k2 pro + FS2k4 (German Versions) - all sliders maxed about 95% | ever latest FSUIPC 3.xxx licenced | AS2004 | Alert!! pro | UT 2004 | RC3.01 | FSBuild 2 | ACLoader 4.1 | FS Panel Studio | AFCAD 2.2.1 and much more...

Last thoughts. Did you update to FS9.1? If so, did you ensure you used the German download version?W. Sieffert

Hi Torben,I would run the FS9.1 Uninstaller, delete the BACKUP file, then see if the problem is corrected. If so, reinstall the update, and see if the problem is recreated.W. Sieffert

Hi Torben,I promise this is my last suggestion! This involves making a copy of your present Flight Simulator 9 folder and renaming the copy FS2004OLD. Once you have the copy, uninstall FS2004 using the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs Menu. Once uninstalled, use Windows Explorer to delete any residual Flight Simulator 9 folders. Do not delete FS2004OLD. Also if you want to save your My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files, you may want to copy that folder and place elsewhere prior to uninstalling FS2004.Once you have completed the above, do some computer maintenance, see the tricks and tips subforum for clean your temporary files and disk cleanup.Reinstall FS2004 to the same location as before. Once installed, start the flight simulator, let it stabilize, and check to see if it operates properly. Check the flight plan problem. If it is corrected install FS9.1 Update. Restart the flight simulator and ensure it is operating correctly. If so, it is now time to check the FS2004OLD files again.Make sure that the new Flight Simulator 9 and FS2004OLD folders are in the same location, e.g.:H:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9H:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2004OLDRename Flight Simulator 9 to FS2004NEW, then rename FS2004OLD to Flight Simulator 9. Restart the flight simulator and see if the problem still exists. If the problem is corrected, then you are go to good. If the problem still exists, rename the files in reverse order. Restart the flight simulator after the name reversal and ensure the problem is cleared. If so, your only choice is to use the new installation and copy your addons to the new installation until the problem arises.I hope you are able to solve the problem. Good Luck!W. Sieffert

Hi,I would do this, but my fs9 folder has a size of 65GB and the partition has 5GB free space left! I have no where else enough HDD space, would have to buy a new harddisk! Ah, I am thinking about that, but 160 to 200 GB Maxtor is not cheap at all._______________________Regards, Torben HadlerBeta-Tester ACLoader 3 + 4http://www.fsflightdeck.com/acloader.htmlT-A-H MultiMedia Productions Torben Hadler - http://www.t-a-h.com || [email protected]: CPU: AMD TB XP 3200 Barton | MoBo: Epox 8RDA+ NVidia2 400MHz | RAM: 1024MB 2700 DDR | MSI NVIDIA GF5 FX 5700 Ultra | Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS | CH-YOKE + Peddals; Primary: 17" Dell Monitor * Secondary: Philips 150S4 TFT 15" || Software: Display Resolution used: 1024x768 in WinXP and FS2kX | WinXP Pro SP1b (German Version); DX9c | FS2k2 pro + FS2k4 (German Versions) - all sliders maxed about 95% | ever latest FSUIPC 3.xxx licenced | AS2004 | Alert!! pro | UT 2004 | RC3.01 | FSBuild 2 | ACLoader 4.1 | FS Panel Studio | AFCAD 2.2.1 and much more...
