November 29, 200421 yr I'm having a problem saving flights that I create. I have created several flights with the flight planner. BUT, when I later go to the 'select a flight' page, and click on "my saved flights', nothing shows up. The only way I can open a previously created and saved flight seems to be to create another flight in the flight planner, save it, but then LOAD a different flight in the list in the saved flights pop-up box. Am I explaining that clearly? I CAN go to the saved flights in 'my documents' to open a flight I want, but must close FS first. ALSO, when I DO open a saved flight, it always opens with the Cessna rather than the plane I used in the flight. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bill
November 30, 200421 yr Make sure you didn't move your My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files folder from the normal location on your hardrive.Win2K/XP:drive:Documents and SettingsUser_NameMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Files where drive is the drive were Windows resides and User_Name is the current logged on user's name.Win98/ME:C:My DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesNext rename your FS9.CFG file to FS9.OLD, restart the flight simulator, let it stabilize, select the Select a Flight and see if it shows your saved flights. If so, select one of the flights, let it stabilize. Change the aircraft to a different aircraft, select Flights, Save flight..., title the flight, add description (if desired), enable the "Make this the default flight" checkbox, OK. You should return to the flight simulation. Exit the flight simulator, restart the flight simulator, select the Create a Flight menu, and check to see what aircraft is now in the selection box. If it is the aircraft you selected, then you have changed the default flight. If the aircraft is not what you selected, then you have other problems.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
December 1, 200421 yr Thanks for taking the time..The flights I saved ARE where you say they are, and I can open a flight from there..IF I close FS. However, I can't open them from the 'select a flight page' . In 'choose a catagory', I select 'MY SAVED FLIGHTS'. I assume they should shpw up in the CATAGORY DESCRIPTION, but they don't.. I have 3 college degrees. :>) maybe that's the problem..they are in music..! But I have about 15 hours toward a pilot's licsence, so.. what am I doing wrong here?I'll also reply to your advice about my auto-pilot question..Thanks again..

December 2, 200421 yr Sorry:-shy 'My saved flights' are only for when you save a flight you are actually flying - click alt then on the toolbar click flights, then save and name etc. When you create a flight in the flight planner you find it as i tried to show above:-wave I posted a reply before I read your post properly. Hmmm
December 2, 200421 yr Instead of saving it that way, try just pressing ; then save it under whatever name you choose. If you then click to make it the default, it will also load automatically when you load the FS the next time.
December 4, 200421 yr Open Windows Explorer, select My Documents, then Flight Simulator Files. Look at the Windows Explorer address line and check to see if it is pointing to the correct user_name for the account you are logged. If it doesn't correspond to the same user_name, then you have a Windows problem.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;310147If the My Documents folder has been moved, you can restore it to the default location. Press Start, right-click My Documents, select properties, and follow the information.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert

Flightplans and Flights and I can see how that would happen. Flightplans are a map of where you want to fly. Flights are definitions of the aircraft, time and date, weather, etc. to be used to inititialize FS for your session.o The Flight Planner utility creates a file with the extension *.pln and this file is normally only used by the flight planner and the GPS system. This filename only shows up in the flightplanner dialog.o Flights are created from the File menu "Save a flight" (or similar wording) option or by pressing the ";" key. Two files are created, a *.flt file and a *.wx file. The name part "*" of these two files will be the same. for instance, "newflt.flt" and "newflt.wx". The name, "newflt" will show up in "My saved flights".Once you have started the sim and recalled a saved flight from the "My saved flights" dialog, then you can recall a previously saved flightplan from the Flightplanner" option of the File menu. But notice that these are two different functions. In older versions of MSFS, flights were called "situations". That was less confusing.I hope this clears up the confusion. R-
