November 29, 200421 yr I'm quite familiar with IFR flight from FS98 (!!old, eh), but am having problems with the auto-pilot in a newly installed FS2004. For instance in the King Air... I can almost never get the altitude hold to work, either when selecting an altitude to climb or descend to or to just hold. And when it does work, 90% of the time the auto pilot also decides all by itself to hold the heading I'm on. I can't change heading... really a bummer, as you can imagine.. Also, when in approach mode, the auto-pilot often has a real problems tracking the localizer..big swings in heading and altitude..Any suggstions would be really appreciated,Thanks, Bill
November 30, 200421 yr The problem you describe has been around for several iterations of MSFS. To change, add the following lines to your aircraft.cfg autopilot section:[autopilot]use_no_default_bank=1use_no_default_pitch=1W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
December 2, 200421 yr Hi again,Windows xp..Well, the path I followed to find what you suggest is- flight simulator, aircraft, beechkingair(for example),aircraft.cfg file'..The only way I can open this file is with notepad.. I added the lines you suggested..no luck..stll can't bank with altitude hold..Bill
December 2, 200421 yr Bill,Try this:default_pitch_mode=0default_bank_mode=0Autopilot design was changed in FS2002 (or was that FS2000, I don't really remember)to make it more realistic. These override lines were changed in FS2004 from what they were in FS2002. LOTS of changes since FS98. FWIW, I fly the KA exclusively, works perfectly for me.Oh yeah, you can open any cfg file with Wordpad as well--which I prefer. Paul
