Question about a/c textures........

Featured Replies

Was wondering if someone could explain how the cabin window lights work in the textures? The reason I ask is this.....have been using the FFX737-300 for awhile with textures made for FS9 from various airlines. The cabin lights seem to be on all the time at night(looking at a/c from spot view). I needed an American West texture for this a/c and could not find one in any FS9 file library. I did find one in a FS2002 library for this a/c, and it works well, except that the cabin lights are only on when the landing lights are on.Is this controlled in the textures or in the air file or where? Can this be fixed easily or would new textures have to be made? Or does anyone know where I can get an America West texture (NC) for the FFX 737-300 in FS9?Thanks!Rick

The lights are most likely controlled by the fuselage light map (xxx_L.bmp).For FS2004, the alpha channel in the light map dictates which light set controls the light map.If the alpha channel is white (255,255,255), they are controlled by the landing lights. If black, (0,0,0), the lights are controlled by the Nav lights. In FS2002, the alpha channel of the xxx_L.bmp gave unpredictable results for some.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I swapped the fuse_l.bmp from an a/c that had the cabin lights come on with the nac lights and it worked! Is the same true for the logo light? All of my 737's logo lights come on with the landing lights. But the POSKY's 757 comes on with the nav. Is this a function of the individual painter, or in the a/c model or air file?I'm learning!!!!Rick

All you need to do is change the xxx_L.bmp alpha channel to pure black to have it work with the Nav lights.
