TrackIR and Active Camera................

Featured Replies

Hello all!I currently have TrackIR 2 Pro (TIR 3 Pro arrives tommorrow! :)) and I was considering purchasing Active Camera...(yes, you read that right, I don't have Active Camera). HOWEVER, I noticed Active Camera has a "head latency" movement built into it....so...Do I even need Active Camera if I have TrackIR (the ability to walk around excluded, of course)?Doesn't TrackIR, in a way, accomplish the same thing as Active Camera with regards to head latency, scenery lock, traffic lock, etc..(if I want to "lock" onto something I can just look at it with TrackIR)? If they don't accomplish the same thing, CAN the two work in conjunction together or will they conflict?I know Active Camera has a good deal of other features as well, but with regards to the above options/etc. I mentioned, doesn't TrackIR negate Active Camera's head movement and other related features? Thanks to anybody who can help out!!:)

Hi Shane,I'm an ActiveCamera/TrackIR 2 user myself. The head latency in ActiveCamera needs to be turned off for TrackIR to work right, but I still find myself using its other features quite a bit. For my money, ActiveCamera is worth it for the mousewheel zooming in the VC and the mouse panning in spot view, not to mention the fly-by views. Because I'm using TrackIR, I no longer have much need for the preset views in ActiveCamera, but before TIR I used them all the time. I did fly for a couple of days after installing the FS9.1 patch without my ActiveCamera, and even with the TrackIR I really missed it. I was quite glad to have it back when the AC2004 patch was released. That's one guy's opinion, anyway.thanks,

Hi,could you please point out what you do with TrackIR? I see my room when I turn my head... I do not have so many monitors and PCs linked, so I would get a around cockpit view. So, just my two monitors, one for the panel and one for ADDON utilities like FSNAV etc.So, how does TrackIR work and what will I gain for the money I would pay?_______________________Regards, Torben HadlerBeta-Tester ACLoader 3 + 4http://www.fsflightdeck.com/acloader.htmlT-A-H MultiMedia Productions Torben Hadler - http://www.t-a-h.com || [email protected]: CPU: AMD TB XP 3200 Barton | MoBo: Epox 8RDA+ NVidia2 400MHz | RAM: 1024MB 2700 DDR | MSI NVIDIA GF5 FX 5700 Ultra | Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS | CH-YOKE + Peddals; Primary: 17" Dell Monitor * Secondary: Philips 150S4 TFT 15" || Software: Display Resolution used: 1024x768 in WinXP and FS2kX | WinXP Pro SP1b (German Version); DX9c | FS2k2 pro + FS2k4 (German Versions) - all sliders maxed about 95% | ever latest FSUIPC 3.xxx licenced | AS2004 | Alert!! pro | UT 2004 | RC3.01 | FSBuild 2 | ACLoader 4.1 | FS Panel Studio | AFCAD 2.2.1 and much more...

Greetings,I thought I would chime in here for a minute. I was using TIR with ACP in fs2002. They worked together, only if I ran two monitors and dragged any panel to the second monitor. I also ran stereo glasses on the main view. It all worked together quite well. The head latency with panning ability were the cat's meow.Fs2004 is a different story. I cannot run two monitors with stereo enabled, the system will crash. So, TRI and ACP cannot run together under in this setup with stereo. I have not tried it with stereo disabled, I cannot part with the glasses, perhaps someone can give it a try and post back. I have since gone back to 1 monitor. I bet one could network a second computer, that would allow stereo on the main view and 2nd or even 3rd views on the other system without crashing. I don't know how this would effect ACP though. The new Spitfire from RealAir has a new feature that allows motion with the TRI active, maybe it will catch on..............Anyway just thought I'd chime in....Rex

This mainly has to do with Active Camera. With the new version 2.0 the fs patch to 9.1 and the active camera patch because of this 9.1 patch ,one can not use the NO-CD which was designed for the 9.0 version of FS.So we are comdened to use disk 4 of fs 2004. I am very worry about the longevity and viability of my CD rom disk four of my original FS . So in a way unless I can get a hold of a NO Cd for 9.1 I feel that I lost the money by purchasing Active Camera.Edmundo Cardenas SVMI

Thank you for the info. But how does it work? I have glasses, so I have to put the reflective pad on the front side of my glasses middle? Whenever I have to look right to work at FSNAV, which is right on my second monitor, the view will change on my primary monitor? Here see me with glasses: http://www.t-a-h.com/images/torben08.jpgIs there any where enought space for this reflective pad? Will TrackIR work only in VC view? Or can I as well look around the side view in 2D?I use my two monitors (one classic one TFT) in Horizontal Pan mode of nvidia view. So FS9 in window mode is left side of these two segments and stays there. I guess TrackIR and AC will have no problem working together. But tell me how you use the TrackIR technic._______________________Regards, Torben HadlerBeta-Tester ACLoader 3 + 4http://www.fsflightdeck.com/acloader.htmlT-A-H MultiMedia Productions Torben Hadler - http://www.t-a-h.com || [email protected]: CPU: AMD TB XP 3200 Barton | MoBo: Epox 8RDA+ NVidia2 400MHz | RAM: 1024MB 2700 DDR | MSI NVIDIA GF5 FX 5700 Ultra | Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS | CH-YOKE + Peddals; Primary: 17" Dell Monitor * Secondary: Philips 150S4 TFT 15" || Software: Display Resolution used: 1024x768 in WinXP and FS2kX | WinXP Pro SP1b (German Version); DX9c | FS2k2 pro + FS2k4 (German Versions) - all sliders maxed about 95% | ever latest FSUIPC 3.xxx licenced | AS2004 | Alert!! pro | UT 2004 | RC3.01 | FSBuild 2 | ACLoader 4.1 | FS Panel Studio | AFCAD 2.2.1 and much more...

Torben,I too wear glasses, just about like yours. What I do is attach the reflective dot to the middle of my stereo glasses. The stereo glasses fit right over my eye glasses. I've never had to replace the dot yet. Also, I attached a reflective dot to an AOPA hat. Sometimes others want to fly my rig and don't get along with the 3d, the hat trick works well, or use an old pair of glasses for flying only. Perhaps a head band.

Hey :( ,try the following. With the rate of 0.01 TrackIR and ActiveCamera are working, as if they were made for each other.ActiveCamera.jpgDino
