October 14, 201312 yr Hello Everyone, I am hoping to have the following computer built by CyberpowerPC (~$1300). The price looks very reasonable for what you get. The main purpose of this computer is for FSX. The computer is a 3.5 GHZ i7 with cyberpowerpc extreme overclock (~4.5 ghz?), cooled with a Corsair H60, 8gb of DDR3 2133 MHZ Ram, GTX 660 2GB EVGA Superclocked Video Card. A Z87 Motherboard, 500 watts Corsair power supply. (I have modified their basic Gamer Xtreme 3000 package, the detailed specs are listed below) As this is my first time having a computer built for FSX, does there appear to be any red flags or suggestions? I have based my selections off of internet research. Also, I can get a EVGA superclocked Nvidia 2gb 760 for +$80, or 770 2gb EVGA superclocked for $250.. Should I really consider these? I only plan to use one 1900X1080p monitor. Maybe atleast the 760? Thank you in advance to anyone who takes a look at this build! Much appreciated! B. October 16, 201312 yr Looks like a good system for FSX. The only thing I would change is to add a second hard drive. You should have FSX on a separate drive from the operating system. Ideally you'd get an SSD for the primary drive to house Windows, and either a second SSD or regular HDD to house FSX. In terms of the video card, if you're sticking with FSX the 660 would be plenty fine. If you have plans of going with Prepar3D when their v2 comes out, with the DX11 goodies you'll really want a 780.
October 17, 201312 yr Just get 760 gtx if using one monitor only at 1080p. It all depends what programs your running and aircraft your running. If flying Xplane 770 or 780 be far more useful than in fsx. It all depends on your budget.
October 18, 201312 yr Author Thanks guys! The 780 gtx is a little out of my ball park range, But I will highly consider all of your suggestions! B. MY FLIGHT SIM BLOG http://deskpilot518.blogspot.com/ Proud supporter of Intercity Airways, visit www.ViaIntercity.com
