October 18, 201312 yr I'm stumped. I know there are some great minds here that can help me out..I just transferred FS9 to a new system from XP to Windows 7. Everything else is fine, but for some reason, FlyTampa's Seattle, in the daytime only, crashes FS9 during the "loading scenery" process with an error signature of "stackHash_cbc8", so I know it is not a module error such as a bad texture or afcad. If I de-activate FT KSEA, it loads fine. Also if I load FT KSEA at night, not dawn or dusk, it loads fine. FT KSEA worked flawlessly on my old XP system for 8 years on two XP systems.I have checked for multiple afcads, re-installed FT KSEA from scratch twice, disabled the UAC, and enabled the Seattle aerial photo, but every time I try to go to KSEA, it gets to about 48% loading scenery and then crashes.. I really do not think there is a problem with the download itself, but that is the only variable. I even tried de-activating all other addon scenery, and I still get the crash during loading.any thoughts?
October 18, 201312 yr It probably IS a bad texture file - FS9 errors can be cryptic at times. Try to load a flight starting at KSEA and watch the loading screen - let the sim crash and let us know where in the loading process it crashes. At any rate, I've learned from experience that you can't always trust Windows to overwrite files it thinks are the same - it will as often as not leave the original file untouched. When you're chasing down bugs in where textures might be a concern, it's often best to completely delete all traces of the suspected scenery area before reinstallation so that all the new files get installed correctly.
October 27, 201312 yr Author I've found the culprit! It was missing texture files for the 3rd runway addon. Those bmp's were in the scenery/namw/scenery folder, and I never copied them over to the new computer. I brought them over and all is well now.
