October 25, 201312 yr Hi community, Firstly, I would like to say that I'm an I.T tech, but I haven't kept up with the latest video cards that are around. I would like to upgrade my video card, but I need a little advice as to which one please. Added to that, I don't have a fortune to spend. At the moment I have the sim tweaked pretty good; I just get occasional wait times sometime when loading textures, such as the PMDG NGX. I was advised by a colleague at work that if I install a new video card, my system will be more 'balanced'. So, my existing specs are as follows: CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k (not overclocked) RAM: 8Gb Ripjaws PC1600 HDD0: 128Gb Crucial M5 SSD (For Windows Only) HDD1: 128Gb Crucial M5 SSD (Purely for FSX) HDD2: 2Gb WD Caviar Black (Storage Drive) ASROCK Mobo Corsair 680 watt PSU Video Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX550Ti with 3Gb VRAM. My friend is convinced that if I install a GTX660Ti, that the system will be much better. Can anybody comment on this please? I realise that eventually my CPU will be the bottleneck. Many thanks, Andrew. Kind regards, Andrew.
October 25, 201312 yr My new video card upgrade will be the Nvidia GTX650 Ti Boost, it has a much better increase in performance over the GTX650Ti but way better than the GTX550Ti, here's a good independent review. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-650-ti-boost-gk106-benchmark,3463.html

Many thanks, Andrew. I think the problem is Andrew, is that you could end up being very disappointed. I suspect you may expect far more of an improvement than what you will actually get. With the GPU you have suggested, it's only going to give a very small benefit in AA and filtering. As for performance I'd like to wager a bet that you won't see any improvement in FPS at all. October 26, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the advice guys. Howard; I don't think I'll be disappointed; I'm not expecting miracles with this. I would have to say that I am at least 98% happy with how things are at the moment; just want the textures to load a little faster, that's all. Kind regards, Andrew. Kind regards, Andrew.
