Problems with new NVIDIA driver and Inspector settings

Featured Replies

Don't know if anyone has optimised these yet, spent all weekend trying to put my previous Inspector settings into the new version. The problem is there are a few new options which I didn't understand, so the crux of this post is that I couldn't reproduce the smoothness of the old driver and settings. Although a few have reported better frames with the new driver, I get a strange wave effect on screen when turning with external frame rate locked at 30. When I run unlimited this effect is gone, but there are slight stutters in turns (which weren't there before) and more blurries. Think I will have to roll back to previous driver, (:-)

I had that "wave effect" also. I am just putting together a new rig. I then noticed some how I had two installs of the same driver in "Programs and Features". I removed them and did a clean install and everything seems fine now. Make sure to use Nicks method for clean install.

Still getting the wave effect with the latest NVIDIA driver and latest inspector. Tried downloading previous version of inspector but resorts to latest version so can't roll this back. If anyone has a smooth sim with the latest of these 2 applications could they please post a list of their Inspector settings as this is driving me crazy! Just don't understand the new Inspector options. with FPS limiter set to 30 and 1/2 Vsync I get the wave effect. with limiter turned off I get rid of wave effect but stutters are present (as expected). May have to roll back driver and see if that helps. Any posting of Inspector settings in latest version would be greatly appreciated!!

After getting nowhere with the new driver and not being able to roll back inspector to previous version, I re-installed the previous driver and hey presto, the 1/2 vsync and external rate limiter set at 30 fps are working properly again, all artefacts gone. Not sure i wanna risk upgrading drivers again!

For me VSync 1/2 were working OK, but for some reason I am sometimes getting a big microstutter. It's smooth for a few minutes and then out of nowhere this microstutter.

Why couldn't you rollback NVIDIA Inspector? Just replace the files in your install folder with the older versions or ins't that possible?
