October 30, 201312 yr Since upgrading and installing Windows 7 Home Premium some months ago, much of the time when I start up Internet Explorer and click on an internet link I get the following: 1. An Internet Explorer pop up window appears indicating the following: "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" The option is "cancel". 2. Before one really has time to do anything, a second Internet Explorer pop up window immediately appears indicating the following: "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." The option is "Close Program" 3. After I click on the "Close Program" option, Internet Explorer opens and displays the contents of the link I have selected normally. Rarely, it will shutdown Internet Explorer, but this is an exception to the norm. However, during the majority of times when there is no shutdown, momentarily on the bottom of the screen is a notification as follows: "A problem with this webpage caused internet explorer to close and reopen the tab." This notice quickly disappears and everything seems to be normal thereafter. I am using Internet Explorer 10. Being that everything works, this really is not a biggie, but I am curious if anyone else sees this and knows the cause, and/or solution. Respectfully: RTH
October 31, 201312 yr IE10 was sent out a bit buggy in the first instance. Patches were made available to rectify the problem, quite some time later. IE9 is the original that came with W7. I suggest you uninstall IE10 via the usual route in Control Panel. If you cant see it listed in the program list click on the "Installed Updates" link (top left corner). If you feel you need to run IE10(I don't) you need to first install the PreparePatch, available here:- http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=36805 There are 2 varieties, 32bit and 64 bit...the download includes both. Just run the version for your machine. Reboot, then reinstall IE10, then reboot again. Before doing the reinstall make sure you are up to date with Windows Update normal updates. (NOT IE10 I hasten to add, which will be included in the updates offered. ). Personally I have no desire to have it on my machine...but thats just me. How about Firefox or Safari ? Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

November 1, 201312 yr Just to follow on.....followed my own instructions and all is well...now I shall take it off :lol: A direct link for IE10, make sure you choose the right version 32 or 64 bit and English, I presume anyway.
