Migration Strategy FSX --> P3D V2

Featured Replies

I saw a thread in the French language AVSIM Thread on this topic. I thought this is something I need to starting thinking of.. What is the most painless way to lverage your FSX Installs when we install the new P3D V2 in the same PC.

The challenge is in our addon scenery. The most arduous and time consuming unlike addon aircraft which I personally don't mind re-installing.

I am thinking of doing this.

1) Mega scenery - Simply cut paste the scenery.cfg entries over and thats it.

2) FSDT airports, reinstall.

3) Fly Tampa - scenery.cfg entry? would this work or do we need to reinstall?

4) Orbx - This is going to be a challenge. Is there a way to avoid reinstallng two versions of them? I know I would have no choice to reinstall the PNW and other zones...but for individual airports, I can simply add an entry in scenery.cfg for the P3D V2. Yes I may lose the people animation..but that is not tonally required..I can live without animation of people... Anyone got better ideas?

5) Aircraft - What if there is no new install programs (and its ok as per EULA),..how do we migrate these over? Let say CS 727. How do I know what the gauges are there that belongs to 727 that I need to copy over.?
