P3D will not start at all

I have a fairly recent quad core Intel system with a powerful AMD DX11-compatible graphics card and this system ran P3D 1.4 without any problems (as it does FSX) - but for some reason P3D will not start.  P3D installed without any error messages, but immediately following installation has given an error message every time I try to start it.  System re-starts have not helped.

 

I am currently using a laptop away from home, but will post a list of my system specs later in the day for those with technical expertise and who may be able to identify an incompatibility.  I will also include a screen shot of the error message.

 

Has anyone else had this problem?
