Fsx often crash with my 777 :(

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Another problem with this plane... i just started FSX and put all my keyboard to the default parameters, then i leave and restart FSX to make sure the change in the settings will work.I selected my 777 on dubai airport, i was surprised because the system doesn't initialize himself (the green bar on the top doesn't appear) then i was trying to change the panel state in the FMC... oh ###### i can't ! the FMC screen is in black too, finaly i touch the ligths buttom, no response, the MCP... no response too.And to make me in a good feel:

Is that FlyTampa OMDB? If so, have you installed the FlyTampa libraries? Like ORBX, some scenery calls will ask for custom stuff that is only in their libs.

I had a CTD on final at OMDB (in the 777 only, go figure) every time and now I don't.

It probably has nothing to do with that, but again it's a good illustration of what can affect other stuff. Especially if you are using complex A/C at complex fields and your VAS/PC is on the edge anyway. A bad/dupe bgl or missing custom autogen can tip it over the edge (again, not suggesting the OP has this issue, but..)

I have nothing on my machine except FSX now. And only ORBX, FSDT and FlyTampa sceneries (only one of them - OMDB) PMDG and RealAir planes. I have junked so much stuff I bought over the years and my FSX install is slimmed down. It very rarely crashes and if it does it is usually my stupid overclocking "experiments"

Have you got the Sysinternals suite to monitor your VAS? Are you flying over any other scenery when it crashes in CRZ?

Hope you get it fixed. It's a wind-up when you can't fly. Go fly the RealAir Lancair Legacy for a short while to cool off B) (sorry guys :P )

best

Well first off, I think your anger is misplaced.  The 777 is a working product and I think there are a lot of people flying this aircraft without issue or complaint who will back me up on that...including you, as you seem to indicate in an earlier post.

I don't see your post, so... if my problems happen to you what do you will do and thinks after many try? it's easy to say "the hanger is miasplaced" and let the problem happen at another poeple... but of course the T7 work well in my PC computer with poor FPS, but not working in a more highter configuration on my home PC, where is the logic?

You think what do you think but im not alone to get problems with this T7 and for me a good product is a product working for all... My config is good and all my payware plane are working and on the last moment i reeinstall windows and a fresh FSX too, for what? a bugy 777?

All my planes work, only one at 90$ is doing a boring resistance and now after many freeze and crash the better is... i can't install him because he stay in black and stuck on the ground before crashing FSX (he isn't in cold and dark ... i hear you thinking that). So maybe now i will be so much more careful before buying a pmdg product.

I come back flying my MD-11 and my MD82 maddog 2010 because this PMDG T7 is boring me now.

Koala,

That PC of yours, is that a new one or an old one?

Could something be broken or so full of dust that the problem is the hardware and not the software?

I agree that it is very strange that this only happens to you on the the PMDG777 but as we all know, this aircraft is for a big part simulated OUTSIDE FSX.

So maybe something is not right with your PC that has nothing to do with FSX but might still be required by the PMDG777.

I am no computer specialist at all but if everything on your PC works well, except for instance your Email program, then that is not so strange is it?!

Because the Email program is just another part of software and it needs a working internet connection and an account and TGP/IP settings etc etc.

And if anything is wrong with those, Email will not work even though the rest of your PC works just fine.

Maybe it is the same with a PMDG produkt.

For instance, PMDG has warned in their intro guide not to shutdown any Windows Services because this can effect their addon. When you shut down Windows Services to direct more CPU power from (assumed) unnecesarry services to FSX you could cause problems for the PMDG777 while your Maddog still does fine. Because the Maddog does not need that service maybe.

I am only thinking of possibilities here....like I said I am no PC specialist!

Anyway, I have learned from specialist that the best/safest way to run FSX is to have a PC that is dedicated to FSX only.

And to install Windows and FSX in exact procedural steps!

To tune Windows and FSX exactly as in those guides and to not take any short cuts!

I did that, it was a lot of work, fun at the same time, and the result is I have NO problems!

example from such a guide:

Install FSX.

Run FSX.

Reboot PC.

Install FSX SP1

run FSX.

Reboot PC.

Install FSX SP2

Reboot PC

Many people just Install FSX then SP1 and then SP2 without even starting FSX inbetween or rebooting. And then they wonder why they have problems.

This is just one example, I can give you a hundred more guide lines to follow...the guide I am talking about has grown to become a book almost!

FSX is extremely fragile and complicated and needs us to follow the Windows and FSX install guides EXACTLY to prevent problems from happening somewhere down the line.

So, have you ever followed such a guide?

If not, I highly recommend it and I can give you a link if you want.

You can also wait for SP1 for the PMDG777 and see if that helps then.

I have the same problem how do I fix it

Hi, Nerd1146,

So many issues have been discussed in this thread that it would be better to start a new one.  Use a title that briefly says  what your issue is, and then explain very clearly exactly what is going wrong,  what happens before you have the issue, what your computer setup is, etc.  You are much more likely to get some useful help.

Hi Nerd,

I agree with the above.

You need to describe your problem.

Then you need to tell us what things you have tried to fix it.

And it would help if you told us if you are overcloking your PC or not.

Ok i flew 4 times without any freeze and crash, i spend a lot of my nights to watch if he freeze or not and i hope this twice i got it ! :)

What i do was read many topic on AVSIM to try fix my problem, and i learned a lot.

For simmers using NVIDIA and Realtek HD driver:

Update your NVIDIA HD driver and replace the f*** Realtek HD driver with the windows driver by default

I saw many post with simmers using this driver wich cause freeze on windows (not only for fsx) so i try the removing solution and i flew 4 flights, 1 short, 3 long flights.

Now i really hope my freeze problem is fixed... to be continued.

If the realtec driver caused this and you have solved your problem then I congratulate you to your good troubleshooting!

Interestingly I have no freezes and no Realtec driver either.

So maybe Realtec really does cause freezes.

(I have my motherboard sound device turned off in the BIOS because my BOSE PC speakers are connected by USB and in the bass box it has its own hardware. So no soundcard or MB sound chip required)

As far as Nvidia GPU drivers go, I would not simply update them to the newest one.

The newest one might be great for the newest games....but for FSX you want to stick with one that works and NOT change it.

(obviously in case of freezes glitches and crashes you would want to try a different GPU driver).
