Ai planes not alligned at parking

Featured Replies

My newly installed ProjectAI aircrafts' nosewheels do not allign to the stop lines (the aircraft seems to go over it and the horisontal stop line seems to end up under the plane's belly)Is there a way to fix it ?I have even tried an AFCAD2 file for the airport but it still happens. What is the best way to allign the PARKING ICONS (green ones) in AFCAD so that all plane's have their nosewheels alligned when they are standing in a row at their parking spots ! Is the on the DOTS or on the tip of the arrow that looks like a plane ?Sorry if it all sounds confusing - hopefully you will know what i meanMany thanks

From memory, if you go into point mode in Afcad you can "catch" the small circle at the "head" of the parking icon with your mouse and rotate it - the aircraft will sit in the big circle with its nose pointing to the small circle.Bear in mind that the plane has to taxi in, so the parking direction needs to be aligned fairly closely with the parking connector which leads it into the gate.I not sure if you can select multiple parking spaces and realign them all in one move.As regards whether the nose or the belly is over the mark, the mark is defined by where you put the parking-spot, so that's predefined. Are you sure you have the right size gates for the aircraft? There are large, medium and small gates. I don't know what FS does with a large aircraft when it only has a small gate available, does it force it on or does it make the plane disappear as it would if there were no gate at all? Also, there is something called a parking radius which can be set for each gate (or type of gate?). I know that can be used to control how aircraft park, but not sure of the details. Might be worth searching for in the library.Could be that if you have downloded Afcads they have non-standard radii with the result that the nose protrudes over the mark. If you think you have problems, I have downloaded all my Afcads from a reputable source and have some gates where the nose of the aircraft protrudes right through the terminal window and into duty free, never mind over the mark! I think a lot of short-cuts are taken to cram a lot of gates and a lot of AI planes into the available space!

The "stop" line that shows on the ramp is the center of the parking spot and when the ai plane parks it aligns it's center of gravity with this point so no matter what you do, the plane will stop with its main gear near the stop line rather than the nosewheel.Brian

HiThanks for the replies, OK, but if the plane parks so that the C.O.G is where the STOP line is, how on earth will i get the planes to have the nosegear park at or very near to this line ?Or will it not be possible ? I Just need a method to roughly allign the nose gears of all aircraft so it looks like they are parked in a single line rather than crooked all over the place. Thanks

Well, if Brian's right, and I expect he is, you can use Afcad to align the parking places, but you will be aligning CofG and not nosewheels if the aircraft. If the planes are of different lengths, as they are certain to be unless all of exactly the same type, the noses won't line up precisely. That said, as FS will tend to group aircraft of a similar size together according to the gate size (e.g. a small gate will take A320's and B737's, large B747 and A340 etc etc) how far out will you be?Where you have gates of different sizes mixed together, you will get a better (but not perfect) result by using Afcad to align the FRONT EDGES of the circles, not their centres, as this will tend to align the noses of the aircraft rather than their CofG's.Always assuming you have enough room for that of course.

Ah OK, i understand now !Another Question i have is the order of priority the afcad files have.I have an add-on airport installed which is top of the priority list, but i now notice my taxiway signs are missing ( obviously due to the default scenery being lower down the list...)If i have the following add-ons - what order would you put them in so that i can have my mesh, landclass, airport and default taxiways show up ?1. Add-On Airport (FACT)2. FSGENESIS MESH3. MY WORLD LANDCLASS4. AFCAD FILES FOR AIRPORTSThanks

Hi Do you guys have FS9 and AFCAD2 running at the same time. You use FS in top-down view, select slew, go back to AFCAD select parking to be modified, right click and select jump to. On returning to FS you'll find your default A/C at or near that parking, slew the A/C as required go back to AFCAD and align parking with crosshairs. It's all explained in much greater detail in the MANUAL and quite easy to do.Hope this helpsTony

Correct - and that's the best way to get your parking spaces where you want them - but pik an aircraft the same size as you expect to see parked there.Problem is though, again from memory, is that if you are trying to align a whole row of parking spots, you have to reload FS9 every time you want to review the results? That's right I think.
