CH throttle quadrant question - single engine planes

Featured Replies

I am considering buying the new ch throttle quadrant. I searched through a bunch of posts and got most of my questions answered. However I have one more question for someone who already owns it:How do you use the throttle for single engine planes? Most of my flying is split between two engine props and single engine GA. The one thing that has kept me from buying is having to remap the throttles each time I change planes. However, I was thinking I could set it up for a standard twin prop, but then how would that work for a single engine plane? Could I just not use one of the levers for each (maybe taking off the tops)? Does the other lever get in the way? Could I simply use two throttles for the single anyway? Just curious if someone out there has tried something similar. The other option I thought about was having multiple fs9.cfg and fsuipc.ini files, but that sounds like more trouble that it is worth. I have the registered version of fsuipc if that matters.

When I fly singles I simply use the controls mapped for Engine 1 and ignore the others. Doesn't really get in the way, and works fine. No remapping needed.

Thanks! Just what I needed to know. :-wave

Although you already have your answer, I just thought I'd chip in and comment that I just move both controls at the same time when flying a single, even though only one of them will have any effect... Easier to grab them that way!Definately well worth having, IMHO, if not only because it stops me bashing my wrist with the yoke when trying to hand-fly an IMC approach in lousy weather! ;-)Ian P.

I just ordered, and I should be multi-engine flying by the end of the week! Yes, just using both is what I planned on doing, although I will try it either way. Just as long as I don't have to reconfigure it when moving from single to twin, I'll be happy! Thanks again for the input. It always helps to hear from those who already are using it.
