Rebuilding FSX from pieces after 2 years questions

Recommended Posts

Good Day Gentlemen,

I was a FS9 and FSX enthusiast for many years. Regular multiplayer and contributor at DC3 Airways. VATSIM too. I enjoyed our hobby for well over eight years. In early 2011 I had to set everything aside. We have relocated from Alaska to Florida and the wife is encouraging me to rebuild my setup, which included rudder, throttle and yoke controls as well as a small fortune in addons. I could not even remember my old Avsim logon. CRS disease at 58

Here's the rub. I have two old desktop computers that have been set aside that hard drives in them I used for FS. I also have my original FS9 and FSX with Accelerator disks. For the life of me I cannot find the disk paper covers with the software keys, but I do have the disks. I downloaded the AVSIM  FSX software and hardware guide and looked it over. I'm pretty sure I can rescue the old drives that had all my old installs on them. I may even be able to rescue and restore the last desktop that is good intel core I7 and Windows 7.

BUT... if I can't and I decide to rebuild the desktop (or build a new one) from scratch am I going to be able to use my FS9 and FSX disks if I can't find the keys? I'm fairly certain I put the original installs into a separate partition on the old desktop hard drive. But if I have to rebuild Windows 7 that partition may not function with the new rebuild and thus I would have to rebuilt FSX from scratch with original software disks that I don't have keys for.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Robert

FSX Gold does not cost very much so, if you cannot find the keys to your product (they are inside the case holding the FSX DVD's) it won't cost much. I think you can get the FSX Gold which has everything for around $20.
