Seasonal change and CTD

I am not sure if this is related but I think that it is, on Christmas Day I tried to get a flight in before I had to leave the country for a couple of days and every time FS9 was loading I got a CTD when the progress bar showed FS9 to be about 20 percent loaded. That is a guess because I am not sure the exact number. I had not installed anything new in some time. The flight was to start out at KCOS during daylight hours, no flight plan, no real world weather, just the default weather set up, I tried several aircraft and the result was always the same. I tried deleting the FS9.CFG and letting it build a new one but the same CTD happened, then I changed the season to summer and everything loaded fine. At that point I flew for about 10 minutes and I had to go to bed. I just returned home a little while ago so later tonight I will find out exactly what caused this issue and report back here.
