December 19, 201312 yr There are various System Volume files scattered about my disk. Right now I exclude them from defragging. However, are these active files that are read when the disk is accessed? Or, are they just a record of activities? If they are involved in every disk access then I definitely need to defrag them. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
December 19, 201312 yr This would be a first step if they are to do with the system restore process: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/how-do-i-delete-huge-files-from-system-volume/2d31b256-2cb6-486e-af97-e6018f594581 pH
December 19, 201312 yr Author I do not want to delete but rather determine if they should be defragged. If they are restore point files I see no reason to waste time defragging. They stay on the exclude list. Thanks, regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
